Nuaimal Hakim told him to inquire about his own house where his sister and her husband had converted to Islam. When Umar informed him that he had set out to kill Muhammad, Nu'aym said, “By God, you have deceived yourself, O Umar! Do you think that Banu Abd al-Manaf would let you run around alive once you had killed their son Muhammad? Why don't you return to your own house and at least set it straight?" On his way to murder Muhammad, Umar met his best friend Nu'aym ibn Abd Allah who had secretly converted to Islam but had not told Umar. The story was recounted in Ibn Ishaq's Sīrah. Umar converted to Islam in 616, one year after the Migration to Abyssinia. When a small group of Muslims migrated, Umar became worried about the future unity of the Quraish and decided to have Muhammad assassinated. ĭue to persecution, Muhammad ordered some of his followers to migrate to Abyssinia. ![]() He firmly believed in the unity of the Quraish and saw the new faith of Islam as a cause of division and discord. He was adamant and cruel in opposing Muhammad, and very prominent in persecuting Muslims. He resolved to defend the traditional polytheistic religion of Arabia. However, like many others in Mecca, Umar opposed Islam and even threatened to kill Muhammad. In 610 Muhammad started preaching the message of Islam. During Muhammad's era Initial hostility to Islam Like others around him, Umar was fond of drinking in his pre-Islamic days. Umar became a merchant and made several journeys to Rome and Persia, where he is said to have met various scholars and analyzed Roman and Persian societies. He was also a gifted orator who succeeded his father as an arbitrator among the tribes. He was tall, physically powerful and a renowned wrestler. According to the tradition of Quraish, while still in his teenage years, Umar learned martial arts, horse riding and wrestling. ![]() Though not a poet himself, he developed a love for poetry and literature. He used to make me work hard if I didn't work he used to beat me and he used to work me to exhaustion." ĭespite literacy being uncommon in pre-Islamic Arabia, Umar learned to read and write in his youth. ![]() Umar himself said: "My father, al-Khattab, was a ruthless man. His merchant father was famed for his intelligence among his tribe. In his youth he used to tend to his father's camels in the plains near Mecca. His father was Khattab ibn Nufayl and his mother was Hantama bint Hisham, from the tribe of Banu Makhzum. Umar was born in Mecca to the Banu Adi clan, which was responsible for arbitration among the tribes. He is viewed negatively in the Twelver Shia tradition. Umar is revered in the Sunni tradition as a great ruler and paragon of Islamic virtues, and some hadiths identify him as the second greatest of the Sahabah after Abu Bakr. Umar was assassinated by the Persian slave Abu Lu'lu'a Firuz in 644. According to Jewish tradition, Umar set aside the Christian ban on Jews and allowed them into Jerusalem and to worship. ![]() His attacks against the Sasanian Empire resulted in the conquest of Persia in less than two years (642–644). Under Umar, the caliphate expanded at an unprecedented rate, ruling the Sasanian Empire and more than two-thirds of the Byzantine Empire. He was an expert Muslim jurist known for his pious and just nature, which earned him the epithet al-Farooq ("the one who distinguishes (between right and wrong)"). He succeeded Abu Bakr (632–634) as the second caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate on 23 August 634. He was a senior companion and father-in-law of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. He was one of the most powerful and influential Muslim caliphs in history. 583/584 – 3 November 644), also known as Umar or Omar, was the second Rashidun caliph.

![]() I love him best on stage when I’m in a play with him because Madea is so funny. Whether it’s TV or film or the plays, and with the plays he allows me to more free than with television and film. It’s not gig and it’s not my show, and whatever I try to portray, if I can please him, it fits in with what he actually wants for the piece. I think I alleviate a whole lot of problems because I respect him so much. How is working with Tyler Perry on stage and behind the scenes?ĬD: Whether it’s on stage or behind the scenes, it is just a treat for me. By the time we hit opening night, you will be good. It’s okay to make a mistake because nothing is set in stone. Because they were new, we made them feel comfortable. Sometime you have those who are standoffish and hesitant at first, but by the you get in there and you get it rolling and everyone loosens up and you see, “Okay, you’re not a diva and you’re not trying to be better than me,” and they see that the set is a relaxed environment, you just want to your best for the material especially for the people who are coming to see it. I loved all the cast that I have ever worked with because we are all so grateful to work. They were so green and eager and ready and willing to just get in there and run with it. They have to see your face when you are talking.” All these things he didn’t have to handle. Some of them you have to say, “Excuse me, you can’t turn your back to the audience. Perry usually allows us to put the play up in the theater and it was a great time for me to bond with the people and just help them get to their place. Wess Morgan had worked with Tyler Perry before and I was the other one, but everyone else was new and green. Even if they go in their house and dog me out, when they come out, it’s all, “Hi Cassi, everything good?” and I’m like, “Everything’s great.”ĬD: This particular cast was the sweetest because they were so eager. In the neighborhood we I live now, all of us are just friendly. So, I didn’t have a neighbor from hell, but I had one that was nosey from hell. My dad came home and stayed til 11 o’clock and I had to put the boy in the closet. I was trying to act like we were married and the neighbor up the street called my dad and told him that a boy came over to the house. We weren’t doing anything but watching TV, soap operas and eating popcorn. The older one was working and the younger one I had sent on a bike road. They were gone for the day and we were on Spring Break and I was about 11 or so, and at the time, I had two brothers who were working. Have you ever been in a situation where you had unruly neighbors?ĬD: No, but when I was younger and living in Mississippi, my mom was a schoolteacher and my dad taught at a college. Perry and say, “Whoa! You want her to do that. Every time I approach the character, I look at Mr. Every adventure is just that an adventure. It’s just that wisdom that they have.ĬD: I love her.I just love her. They just ask questions and in asking those questions, they find out so many things and nine times out of ten, old people already know. You know how you have those older people who are just in the neighborhood, and if something is not the norm, they just bring attention to it. She’s nosey, sits on her porch, and sheds life on what’s there. She notices the plot or she notices the plan and she really is the neighbor from hell. How would you describe Aunt Bam in this particular play?Ĭassi Davis: In this rendition, I think she is the catalyst for everything that happens. In speaking with, Davis talks about playing Aunt Bam once again and working with Tyler Perry. Having worked with Perry on numerous, the Mississippi native played Aunt Bam in about three stage shows and on the films Madea’s Family Reunion and Madea Goes to Jail. In true Madea fashion, a big mess is cleared up using tough love and Southern mama sensibilities.įor Davis, who’s play Aunt Bam, it’s a return to the stage and character she was known for prior to taking on the role of as Ella Payne on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne for TNT. The trouble begins when social workers start showing up AND then Madea’s house is broken into. When a new family moves in next door to Madea, all seems well – cute kids, loving mother. The play pits no nonsense matriarch Madea and feisty neighborhood know-it-all Aunt Bam up against some troubled new neighbors. More traditional/antique aesthetics, more architecture. I splurged on the gold package ($20) because I knew I’d want all the options and features or not bother, and I don’t regret it at all. It would also be awesome if there were more options to allow for architectural features like dormers, gables, gothic rooflines, and more impressive staircases, etc. The ratio of contemporary to traditional styling options is probably 80/20ish. ![]() Some you can sort of force to work for that because of how customizable things are (probably the app’s best feature), but it would be great if they added more. There are a few options if you want a traditional style home with an antique aesthetic, but very few. Better and more than that- but leaning heavily that way. As others have said, the general selection of furnishings/decor is primarily modern, almost ikea style. I can’t see any way to add a basement and that is crucial to my designs. But I do hope they broaden the options for both architecture and furnishings/decor. This is almost exactly what I was looking for.
